A recent leak suggests that Samsung may have struck the perfect balance with the S26 Ultra's main camera. According to renowned leaker IceUniverse, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will introduce a new 24MP photo mode, accessible through the Camera Assistant mode. This mode promises to enhance image quality, particularly in standard and portrait modes, while being exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series, at least initially.
IceUniverse compares the new mode to Samsung's Expert RAW camera app, which saves 12MP images in 16-bit RAW format, improving detail and dynamic range. However, the leaker claims that the 24MP mode avoids the drawbacks of high-resolution photography, such as over-sharpening and purple fringing, making it more suitable for everyday use.
This revelation raises an intriguing question: why opt for a 24MP mode when the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a 200MP main camera, similar to its predecessor?
