Nike's Running Revolution: A Hot Streak Continues
Nike's running game is on fire, and their Vomero franchise is leading the charge! In a recent study by Jefferies, an investment bank tracking search trends, the Vomero emerged as the most sought-after running shoe franchise in December. But here's where it gets controversial: Nike's not just resting on its laurels with the Vomero; they've got a three-pronged attack for their running relaunch, and it's working!
The Pegasus franchise, another Nike powerhouse, took the second spot. Each of these franchises boasts a numbered hero product, like the Vomero 18, along with Plus and Premium versions packed with cutting-edge technology. The Vomero Plus, in particular, has been hailed as one of the best running shoes of 2025, and it's easy to see why.
Before the release of the Plus and Premium models, Nike's CEO, Elliot Hill, reported that the Vomero franchise had already hit the $100 million mark in sales, thanks to the popular Vomero 18. And this is the part most people miss: Nike's not just about the big releases; they're also refocusing on specialty run stores, and it's paying off.
In the second quarter of 2026, Nike's running division reported a 20% growth, and Fleet Feet CEO, Joey Pointer, had some insightful comments. He praised Nike's return to stores and their improved product, saying they've corrected the issues that were letting other brands like Hoka and Brooks take the lead with better cushioning and support.
But Nike isn't the only one making waves. The Adidas Terrex trail running line came in third, thanks to the launch of their Agravic Speed shoes. The Asics Novablast and Adidas Ultrablast franchises followed closely, with the top ten rounded out by Hoka Bondi, Adidas Adizero, Nike Vaporfly, Hoka Clifton, and Nike Alphafly.
In terms of month-to-month growth, the Clifton from Hoka had the most significant increase at 28.9%, followed by the Hoka Bondi at 24.8%. Interestingly, the Nike Alphafly saw a decrease in search volume by 23.5%.
Overall, the Puma Voyage had the most impressive jump at a whopping 842%, even though it didn't make the top ten. And Nike's Structure line, with its recent unveiling of the Structure Plus, saw an impressive 326% growth.
So, what do you think? Is Nike's running comeback here to stay? And will they continue to dominate the market with their innovative franchises? Let's discuss in the comments!
