The recent weekend was a vibrant testament to your enthusiasm for Lorwyn, and it clearly shone through in all the posts we saw. Your excitement about card pulls, the bustling activity at local game stores, impressive deck builds—particularly those featuring Merfolk—and the sheer joy of engaging with this enchanting world and its new set were palpable. It's likely that your collective enthusiasm contributed to one of the most attended and cherished Prerelease weekends we've experienced to date. Your affection for Lorwyn Eclipsed brings us immense happiness! However, there was a bit of an unexpected twist that we need to address.
Over the course of the event, we were genuinely surprised to learn that a handful of players ended up with foil rare and mythic rare cards from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set. This occurrence was completely unplanned and not part of any promotional strategy. Despite this unintentional mix-up, it seems many of you still had a fantastic experience, even with some non-Lorwyn Eclipsed cards making their way into your games. After all, fun is what truly matters in gaming!
That said, this wasn't quite the type of enjoyment we had envisioned. The number of non-changeling Turtles that appeared was greater than we had anticipated. While some might find it amusing, it could be seen as a bit inconsiderate for Lorwyn Eclipsed to have to share the spotlight with another set that wasn't meant to be part of the festivities.
How could anyone not enjoy this set? It features what many consider to be the best creature type ever!
So, here’s our plan: we will begin by updating the Magic: The Gathering® | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Card Image Gallery (https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles/card-image-gallery). We want to ensure that all rare and mythic rare cards from the main set are available in one official location. If you’re eager to see them, they’re already accessible from various sources, but we believe it’s best to consolidate them for your convenience.
Additionally, many players posed an intriguing question: Is Oko truly a Party Dude?
To keep the spirit of Lorwyn Eclipsed alive, we’re committed to doing something special. While we're a bit behind on timelines and wanted to get this message out sooner, we are currently evaluating how widespread the issue was. We aim to devise a compelling initiative for the stores impacted by this situation, as we take great pride in this set and want to ensure it gets the recognition it deserves. We're working diligently to finalize a plan and will update you all soon.
Lastly, we anticipate that the preview season for Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will unfold differently than we initially expected, but that’s more of an internal adjustment. There are still so many amazing pieces of art, card treatments, and gameplay mechanics left to unveil, and we are determined to find the best way to celebrate over 40 years of TMNT through the lens of Magic.
Lorwyn Eclipsed is truly an outstanding set, and we’re excited to continue celebrating it with all of you! Be sure to check out Lorwyn Eclipsed now available on MTG Arena and Magic Online. Then, mark your calendars for this Friday, January 23, when Lorwyn Eclipsed officially launches in stores everywhere!
