Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, contends that Ghana is facing a faltering trajectory rather than the reset that the National Democratic Congress government vowed to deliver.
He argues that fundamental governance and economic indicators during the NDC’s initial year in power reflect regression instead of advancement.
In a post on social media dated Friday, December 12, Miracles Aboagye accused the government of dismantling functioning systems and substituting them with what he called ineffective alternatives.
He pointed to problems in healthcare delivery after the suspension of digital medical records, interruptions to drone-based services, and alleged setbacks in the fight against illegal mining.
As the 2024 NPP campaign spokesperson, he also criticized public sector salary payments, asserting that teachers and nurses are underpaid even after a full year of work.
Further, he raised concerns about rising utility tariffs and the cost of living, despite official data indicating improvements in inflation and exchange-rate stability.
According to him, increases in electricity and water tariffs, together with modest adjustments to public-sector wages, have worsened living standards for workers.
Miracles Aboagye also condemned the termination of thousands of public sector appointments, which he claimed runs counter to the NDC’s pledge of a 24-hour economy.
"The first 12 months of the NDC in office have been a period of reversal rather than the reset they promised us," he asserted.
Meanwhile, the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC government, which argues that it inherited a severely mismanaged and collapsed economy, claims improvements in economic indicators, including inflation and stability of the Cedi.
