Get ready for a magical transformation! Disney's Beach Club Resort has just unveiled its newly refurbished porte cochere, and it's a sight to behold. But here's where it gets controversial... some might argue that the changes are too subtle, but we're here to explore why this refurbishment is a big deal.
The porte cochere, a grand entranceway at the resort, has retained its classic design aesthetic. Picture a pristine white structure with intricate latticework, topped with a dark roof and a towering centerpiece. The iconic yellow flag still waves proudly at the top of the pole.
However, a closer look reveals some exciting updates. The pavement, with its unique wave-like design, may have undergone a refresh. But the most noticeable change is the addition of brand-new lighting. Small spotlights now line the structure, creating a warm and inviting ambiance, while three elegant hanging lanterns grace the center, adding a touch of sophistication.
The lanterns themselves are a work of art, featuring a sleek black design and housing several electric lights shaped like candles. This modern twist replaces the previous circular chandeliers, offering a more contemporary feel.
While the porte cochere is now open for guests to enjoy, the exterior refurbishment journey continues at Beach Club and Yacht Club. The extensive renovations, initially scheduled to wrap up in 2026, have now been extended into 2027.
And this is the part most people miss... the Stormalong Bay pool area underwent a major refurbishment this summer, and the Yacht Club lobby got a facelift in 2021, followed by the Beach Club lobby in 2023. Even the guest rooms at the Yacht Club received a refresh earlier this year.
But there's more! Bathrooms near the Martha's Vineyard lounge are currently closed for renovations and will reopen in the spring.
So, is this refurbishment worth the hype? What do you think? Should Disney focus more on subtle upgrades or go for a complete makeover? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
