The Emotional Finish
As Chelsie and Jack approached the pit stop, they witnessed Taylor and Kyland claiming their victory. Q&A: Unraveling the Race's Drama
Gold Derby delved into the minds of Chelsie and Jack, uncovering the thoughts and emotions behind their Amazing Race experience.
GD: What were your thoughts when you realized you had finished last, meeting Phil in the darkness of night?
Jack: We knew the stakes were high, and that day was particularly challenging. I struggled with the floral arrangement task, which took me around three hours, and the show didn't even air that part! Then, we got lost for three hours, which was also not shown. Thankfully, our competitors faced similar challenges. We almost caught up, but navigating in the night proved difficult. Despite the setbacks, we gave it our all.
GD: Did the weather impact the floral arrangement task?
Jack: Absolutely! The heat was intense, and it was the first time we took off our jackets. It was a factor in everyone's performance.
GD: Chelsie, what was it like watching your dad and Kyland tackle the floral arrangements?
Chelsie: It was a mix of emotions. Taylor and I are close friends and competitors. I wanted to win, but I also wanted her to succeed. Kyland is incredibly skilled, and my dad was injured early on, which slowed us down. We walked most of the race, and it was challenging to keep up. Every mistake felt crucial, and I felt the pressure.
I was surprised we made it as far as we did. It was a bittersweet experience, knowing we gave it our all.
GD: Jack, how did you feel about joining Chelsie's reality TV journey?
Jack: It was a unique experience. I'm not big on social media, but running through countries and hearing fans cheer for Chelsie was amazing. She invited me to join her on 'The Amazing Race' after her stint on 'Big Brother,' and I couldn't pass up the chance to travel the world with my daughter. It became one of the most cherished experiences of my life.
GD: Chelsie, did any fans help you with directions?
Chelsie: Some fans gave us great directions, while others sent us in the opposite direction! It was a wild ride.
GD: What was the most challenging part of the race?
Chelsie: The go-karting on cobblestone streets was brutal. I could handle getting lost, but the go-karting was tough. My fingers were run over, and I just wanted it to end.
Jack: I wish I had done the go-karting task. The men had an advantage due to their weight, and it was tough to watch Chelsie struggle. I just wanted to help her.
GD: What were your favorite destinations?
Chelsie: Croatia and Romania were amazing. Croatia's beauty was breathtaking, and skydiving and interacting with sheep in Romania were unforgettable.
Jack: Croatia, despite the rain, was stunning. The scenery and people were incredible.
